Script Development - Production Design :

Set design
The first part of the opening will be set in

a park playground. The shot will take place through a chain link fence overlooking the playground. The second part of our opening will take place in an average middle class style of house, which will move to a shot of villain going down the stairs into a basement. As no one has a basement or has no means of acquiring a basement we will improvise and use a garage instead as they are both similar in appearance.

Props
We will use a variety of props in our movie opening sequence. Are props will include fake dismembered limbs, a wheelchair, a variety of knives and sharp objects, duct tape and or shackles, dolls with their limbs broken off, a clown mask and garden shears.

Special FX
We
will only use two different special effects in our movie opening and that would be the use of fake blood, which will consist of ketchup and red dye. Which we will have to make quite a lot of because of the nature of the scenes and we will also have to make the children and the Barbie dolls look dirty and grimy which will be done using mud and green dye.

Lighting
The starting scene in the playground will take place on a bright day to give the impression that everything is normal and good, setting up the story in order to disrupt the characters equilibrium. The following

scenes, which will take place inside a house, will also be brightly lit with normal tungsten light bulbs. We will then have the lights go darker as the villain progress’s into the house and down the basement using the darkness of going down the stairs as a bridge into the next scene. The last few scenes, which take place in the basement where we will use dim lighting as it will connote the feeling and emotions of the scene.

Use of colour
In our movie opening we will use a range of conflicting

colours in order to connote the disruption of equilibrium. In the scenes that take place in the villains home will have many warm and comforting colours such as light browns, whites and mellow reds, however the scenes that take place in the basement will have many dull colours as it will connotate a prison and that the victims are locked up.
